- Why do I need a dog walker?
For a dog to be balanced you as an owner must take your dog for daily walks to release mental and physical energy. Not everone has the time or the energy to walk a dog properly. The proper way to walk a dog is the dog walking either beside you, or behind you, never in front of you. This may seem petty in a human's mind, however it means a lot in a dogs mind. Instinct tells a dog, the leader goes first. A lack of exercise and the mental energy a proper walk releases can cause many behavoral problems in a dog. Getting a dog to walk properly on a lead is not as hard as it may seem, yes, even your dog.
- Is my dog going to be trained to behave outside the training facility, in a real world situation?
There are three phases to training your dog. At Good Dog Pet Services we design a program to compliment your dog's personaility and learning style.
We are a small, service orienteded company, we personally train all dogs ourselves, we do not send dogs to out-of-state farm camps, we train them right here in the Joplin area with weekend training and swimming on Table Rock Lake!
- We rehabilitate the dog on both the mental and emotional levels. Using our special techniques we create balance and harmony and create a desire in your dog to cooperate with people. Where before there was choas, we create calmness.
- Dogs can think and make complicated choices much like people can. We teach your dog how to control his feelings, how to problem solve, and feel a desire to please you. We teach the dogs all exercises through enlivening the natural drives of the dog, we use the three primary drives that Nature has genetically pre-installed in the dog.
- Once the dog is realigned and education, we then move on to the next phase which instills a sense of responsibility in the dog, as well as a work ethic. This means that the dog will work to keep the new rules, rights and responsibilities that he has learned with us sharp when he is returned to your home.
- Why do I need to hire a "Pooper Scooper"?
Primarily because #1. You hate to do it, and #2. Because we love to do it. Honestly. Most people hire us for waste removal because they simply don’t have the time to keep up with their dogs weekly “production.” The second most common reason we hear is that many people find the chore disgusting and would much prefer to secure an affordable and convenient solution to their dog poop problem. Other reasons you may want to hire us include: the dog owner has limited physical ability, your family tends to get into heated battles over whose turn it is to play “pooper scooper”, you own several dogs and have noted that their poop production is an overwhelming force that you simply can’t tame, your lawn and garden is looking more brown and round than clean and green. You get the idea-endless reasons. Needless to say, if your children spend an inordinate amount of time in an area where your dogs commonly place their “gifts,” then you can really use us.
